Who's to Blame?

The story of Romeo and Juliet is like many other stories in that it has the basic parts of plot and it also has setting, conflict, complications, protagonist and...hmmm, does it have an antagonist?  Who is the "bad guy" in this story--who is to blame for the death of Romeo and Juliet? Decide who you think is to blame and clearly explain why by backing up your opinion with evidence.

Judgement Day...

At the very end of Act 2, Benvolio and Mercutio harass the Nurse when she comes to them seeking Romeo.  They harass her and make fun of her because she is a woman of a lower social class. 

Think about our modern society today--are people judged or treated differently because of the "group" they belong to? Think of one "group" that is treated differently and discuss how they are treated and why you think that this happens.  If you have a first hand experience, you may share it if you are comfortable with sharing.
What are some ways which people could help so that others are not being viewed or treated "differently"?

Is it really love?

1. Romeo and Juliet are the most famous pair of lovers in Western literature, but is their love real, or is it just infatuation? Some people claim that Romeo and Juliet are just melodramatic teenagers. Others argue that the Romeo and Juliet's love is the kind of love everyone should aspire to find. What proof does the play provide that their love is "real love," not just infatuation? Or is it indeed, just infatuation? Explain why you think the way you do.  Try to reference 1 scene or part from the play to support your reasoning.
